Scope and Contents

Copy of a typescript letter from Anne Sweeney to Beatrix Farrand tells her it was a hectic month due to teeth extractions and niece's wedding, so is now sending a list of expenses from her trip to Reef Point, Bar Harbor, Maine. She mentions that upon returning to Dumbarton Oaks, a package with a pamphlet on Arboretums and Botanical Gardens of North America, by Donald Wyman, Ph.D. was on her desk sent from the Morton Arboretum courtesy of Beatrix Farrand. Anne Sweeney writes, "The book will be a good addition to the Garden Reference Book Shelves." Robert and Mildred Bliss have returned from California. Mildred Bliss received book lists sent to her by Beatrix Farrand and is looking forward to talking with Anne Sweeney about them. John Thacher wants to meet with her about the date to open the garden to visitors, but has so far been too busy. Robert Patterson is to arrive at Dumbarton Oaks on Monday [September 15, 1947].
