Scope and Contents

Typescript letter with handwritten signature from Ruth Havey to John Thacher tells him she is sorry she missed him while in Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, D.C. in January. She reports the status for work: drawings for the Whitehaven Street entrance to Dumbarton Oaks Park, stone bench in loggia, full size detail ofr the support for the lantern in the Service Court. She includes extracts from a letter she received from Mildred Bliss about the inscriptions for the Forsythia gate pediments, the benches for the cortile, modifications of the finials for the new wing, the coat of arms and Harvard seals, and the chronological tablets for the R Street gate posts. Mildred Bliss asks Havey to put aside the signs for the falls in the Dumbarton Oaks Park, the sign for the Lovers' Lane gate (Dumbarton Oaks Park), inscription for Forsythia paving, and stone bences for the Ellipse.
