Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from Hayward Peirce to Mildred Bliss thanks her for three wonderful days at Dumbarton Oaks. " I am overwhelmed by the beauty and resources you have created and built up there; it is really incredible …." He describes in detail his experience walking through the garden in the moonlight. He refers to the Music Room as another triumph for Mildred Bliss. He tells her that is was so kind to promise him some photographs and hopes that some with be the chatelains. He reports being overwhelmed by all the treasures he looked at, examining and discussing them thoroughly. "New horizons were opened for me by the sight of such a new and incredible object as splendid merwing "bonhomme" in gold. He thanks her for the kindest possible hospitality and for the way everything was made so easy and so perfect for Peter and me. He hope she and Robert will have a restful, healthful and agreeable summer and autumn, in all your travels, and complete success in all their projects.
