Scope and Contents

Typescript letter with handwritten signature from Beatrix Farrand to Mildred Bliss discusses replacements and replanting of areas of the gardens, and how it should be funded. Beatrix is not certain why John Thacher is stalling on the work for the Herbaceous Border. She requests Mildred ask James Bryce to respond to Beatrix's letters in a timely way, as it would help garden matters. John Thacher might eliminate Anne Sweeney's position which Beatrix Farrand disapproves. She plans on meeting John Thacher in Boston, November 3, 1946. Typescript postscript asks if Mildred Bliss liked the Odilon Redon oil painting she sent to her that she purchased from Edith Wharton's estate having once hung in Pavillon Colombe.
