Scope and Contents

Handwritten note from Beatrix Farrand to Mildred Bliss discusses the spreading of Max Farrand's ashes on the plants in the Reef Point Gardens, Bar Harbor, Maine, "a place he so loved." Beatrix mentions there was a short service for Max in the "blue room" [at Reef Point] after which she went out into the garden with his ashes as he requested. She asks Mildred to write to her when she has time. Enclosed is the newspaper clipping of Max Farrand's obituary published in the Bar Harbor Times titled, "Dr. Max Farrand died at Reef Point Sunday." Beatrix Farrand wrote at top: "You may like to see what our home paper said about Max. It is the best of all the notices."
