Scope and Contents

Copy of typescript letter from Anne Sweeney to Beatrix Farrand tells her she is sorry to hear of Max Farrand's health and return to the hospital and the delay of Beatrix Farrand's visit to Dumbarton Oaks. She hopes Max is responding to the treatment and will soon be back with his family. All the blossoms, lilacs, wisteria and dogwood have finished blooming. The tulips have been lovely this past week, but the driving rain has washed most of them down. She encloses the last report she gave to John Thacher. Sunday tours at Dumbarton Oaks have started and the first open Sunday brought 4024 visitors. Postcards are now selling and they are very popular. Matthew Kearney's eldest daughter has come to help Anne on Saturdays and Sundays taking charge of the postcards while Anne is busy with the visitors answering quetions, etc. John Thacher suggested she help as Anne was not able to be in two places at one time. She is also the report for the month of February which she has omitted to send Beatrix.
