Scope and Contents

Copy of typescript letter from Anne Sweeney to Beatrix Farrand tells her Miss Carpenter told her which photographs John Thacher wanted printed for postcards, so she got the negatives from Stewart Brothers, Photographers and had glossy prints made of them. They have gone to the firm of Judd and Detweiler to have the postcards made. A proof was promised this week, but hasn't been received yet. Anne has not seen Mildred Bliss since November, but late last Saturday she toured a friend from Boston around the house and gardens. Mildred Bliss sent Anne a belated Christmas check which was much appreciated. Robert Woods Bliss has been up once to see the pups. James Bryce was looking forward to his restful time in Florida. Anne reports being at Dumbarton Oaks for 8 years. "I think if I had known it would last this long I wouldn't have considered it - but here I am! She says the first snowdrops under the old Beech tree and on the south slope of the lawn. The Bryce's are returning the end of the week, and she will joyfully relinquish her chaperonnage of the house and dogs. "Its very wearing to do two jobs."
