Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter from Katherine Harvey to Mildred Bliss tells her Helen Woods conducted her to Dumbarton Oaks and to Mr. [John] Thacher who very obligingly showed her the treasures that Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss have given to Harvard [University]. She deeply enjoyed seeing them. They did not see the home as it was "put away" for the summer, but they saw both the music room and afterwards walked through the beautiful gardens. Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss have offered a gift whose influence will be felt throught the years to come. Harvey feels it is a great and thrilling thing to have done. She reports she spent an interesting week in Washington [D.C.] and saw a great deal of Helen who is well and busy. She gave Helen, Mildred's message and she awaits word from Mildred. Harvey will go to New York for a few days and hopes to be in Santa Barbara the last of June or first of July. She hopes to find Robert and Mildred Bliss there. She also hopes Robert Woods Bliss is feeling much better. Harvey sends her affectionate remembrances to Mildred. "I did appreciate and enjoy your lovely Dumbarton Oaks." Letter undated, probably created between 1933-1960.
