Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter from Ruth Havey to Mildred Bliss reports that she accepted the Romborg [McLeod and Romberg Stone Co.] estimate for the Doria cub and crab orchard steps ifor $18,944. It is the lowest she could get for the quality of work and material she is asking for and the limiatation on time. She went over the figures with Mr. McLeish [McLeod and Romberg Stone Co.]. Havey asked Mr. Lank to put aside work on the Bosquet seat and Didymus seat to concentrate on boxes for the shrubs [for Arbor Terrace] and cutting down the south east gate. Finelli [District Ornamental Works] is busy with the rail for the swimming pool steps and [G. Frederick] Coles replaced some of the iron decorations that had been torn from the R Street gates. The top layer of large light gravel is being stripped off the Box Terrace and used down below and replaced with smaller size darker gravel. Havey reports a very helpful conference with Mr. [John] Thacher, and she expects him to write to Mildred about it.
