Scope and Contents
Typescript letter with handwritten signature from Ruth Havey to Mildred Bliss about the book, Knowing Your Trees by G.H Collingwood, a duplicate book that Mildred gave her. She is returning the Chestnut Oak leaf found between pages 154 and 155 describing the Chestnut Oak tree. The author of the book happens to be the forester from the Library of Congress who suggested heart Cypress for the arbor. She reports that Collingwood tells her he takes a walk around Dumbarton Oaks almost every week.
The book's author directed Ruth Havey to the heart cypress for the replacement of the arbor in the Arbor Terrace.
