Letter from Marvin Ross, Paris to Robert and Mildred Bliss, between 1956-1960 Digital
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from Marvin C. Ross to Mildred Bliss and Robert Woods Bliss reporting that they gave him a beautiful day yesterday. The Juritzky [Antonin Juritzy-Warberg] visit was one he had long wanted to make and proved to be better than he expected.
Marvin hopes that "some day that the emperors globe with the [?] and the eagle's head from an imperial scepter will on day go into your collection. They are fine and terribly important items."
"While looking at the glyptics in the cabinet des medailles last week I thought of the Medusa's head in Jasper and wondered whatever had become of it. Now it will go into your collection. How splendid! Also the Egyptian head."
Marvin tells Mildred when the book on Pre-Columbian art comes out he will write the people in Russia, so that they will know who they must thank. He offers another address, Madame Postnikova-Loesera, State Historical Museum, Red Square, Moscow, U.S.S.R., and tells her the museum library is open to students so the book of her collection ought to be there.
"London is important not only for enamels but also for the catalogue of your collection."
