Postal Telegraph, the International System, telegram from Milrob [Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss] sending devoted thoughts to Maxtrix [Max and Beatrix Farrand]. Mildred Bliss tells Beatrix Farrand it is wise to refrain from interrupting benign sunlight [in California] for an uncecessary trip East [to Dumbarton Oaks].
Mildred Bliss reports that Robert Bliss made his first time out after a fortnight of the flu to preside Quarters Tree[?]. Mildred Bliss was deprived attending by acute bronchitis. She tells Beatrix that nothing matters but [William] Gray's [Dumbarton Oaks Garden Superintendant] sudden cardiac attack Tuesday night [December 21] which was relieved by an oxygen tent today. His doctor tells Robert Bliss the prognostication is impossible as he has an equal chance [of survival]. She reports [William] Gray's serenity is unbroken, our own is shaken, and says it is a strange Christmas at Dumbarton Oaks.
