VI. Personal Records and Correspondence, 1933-2003, undated., 1933-2003,

Scope and Contents

Consists of biographical, professional and family records which document Lown’s accomplishments and collegial relationships as well as Lown family genealogy and family celebrations, and includes correspondence, certificates, diplomas, memoirs, tributes, curricula vitae, honors and awards, patient letters, correspondence and memorabilia from events including Harvard appointments, family funerals, birthdays, honors and awards and conferences. Correspondents include John Bogle, Leonard Boudin, John Kenneth Galbraith, Ulli Gottstein and family members. IPPNW records include itineraries and topical discussions. Also included in Series V are records of Nobel Prize celebratory events. Photographs document various events including Lown receiving the Cardinal Medeiros Peace Medallion Award, his 80th birthday celebration. Bibliographies of Lown publications can be found in Series V. Personal scrapbooks with related records and electronic versions of some correspondence remain in the custody of Lown. Similar records can be found interspersed throughout the collection.

Arrangement

Series VI was largely retained in the order in which the records were received. Related records from unorganized containers were added by the processing archivist.
