Scope and Contents

Consists of correspondence, administrative records, article drafts, reports, meeting minutes, committee records, newspaper clippings, awards, and photographs. The records in this series were generated as a result of Baumgartner’s administrative and teaching activities at: the New York City Department of Health; Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, Boston; the American Public Health Association (Washington, D.C.); the Agency for International Development (Washington, D.C.); and the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (Washington, D.C.). Series also includes records relating to the formation of the Medical Care and Education Foundation’s Tri State Regional Medical Program and publicity and planning records for the "Medicine in Society" student-faculty lecture series at Harvard Medical School.

Please note that the abbreviations "L.B." and "HEW" on folder titles are for "Leona Baumgartner" and the "United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare," respectively. These abbreviations are used throughout the collection.
