Scope and Contents

Series IV contains articles, correspondence, memoranda, notes, and reports documenting resulting from HB's professional activities and associations. Topics include HB’s preparation for visits with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his personal physician, Dr. Yeshi Donden, in the 1970s and 1980s; his administrative work with Beth Israel Hospital and Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center, mostly during the 1980s and 1990s; his work toward nationally available behavioral medicine education programs and clinics; testimony in front of the Joint Committee on Insurance at the Massachusetts State House to encourage insurance coverage for mind/body medicine; and communication with HRH The Prince of Wales throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, regarding their mutual interests in spirituality and non-Western influences on conventional Western medical techniques.
