Scope and Contents
Series IV contains colleague correspondence, NIH grant proposals and projects, memoranda, administrative records, and photographs resulting from RJK's work at MGH. Topics include RJK's research conducted on acetylcholinesterase, neuromuscular blocking agents, pain management, muscle relaxants, and technological advances in anesthesia delivery; anesthesia's role in surgery, RJK's efforts to develop the MGH Anesthesia Department as an international training center for anesthesia research and training; and the establishment of the first acute care laboratory and the first respiratory therapy department in the United States at MGH. Correspondence in Series I and IV documents his retirement from MGH in 1994.
