Kennedy Memorial Sculpture presented to the Department of Nutrition; various departmental and class photographs; and a reception for Oscar G. Mayer (1888-1965) hosted by the school. Bernard Lown (born 1921) is frequently represented in the laboratory and clinical photographs. Photographs related to Stare’s professional service also include images taken during his post-World War II malnutrition work in Europe with survivors of the Holocaust and possibly the Dutch Famine. These photographs are often graphic, and include images of: patients in healthcare clinics; deceased victims and mass-graves; medical and army personnel; daily life in the immediate aftermath of the war; and war destruction and building ruins. Research photographs include microscope images and analyzed data tables and charts created during various unidentified nutrition studies. Research topics include: dietary intake; adolescent dietary intake; blood pressure; calcium; metabolism; growth curves; protein; fat; food fortification; animal measurements; and urinary nitrogen, glycocyamine, creatinine, and methionine. The series also includes photographs of: Stare and colleagues at various conferences and events; public relations portraits of Stare; occasional images of Stare and family members; and various nutrition workshops and programs in which Stare’s involvement is unclear.
