From 1783 to 1810 Holden Chapel, located on the Cambridge campus, was the first home of the Medical School at Harvard. The earliest students learned by attending lectures, reading textbooks, and doing laboratory work with only occasional opportunities to observe surgical procedures. Even after the school moved to Boston, some lectures were still held in Cambridge and a collection of anatomical specimens used for study was housed at Holden Chapel. More information: President's report , 1827-1828.
