This collection consists of miscellaneous letters and papers of the Ballou family. It includes a letter by Hosea Ballou (1771-1852). It also includes a handwritten, undated hymn written by New Hampshire poet and hymn writer Silas Ballou (1753-1837). This hymn was probably written circa 1785, when Silas Ballou compiled and published the first American Universalist hymn book, entitled New Hymns on Various Subjects. The collection also includes a record of births, marriages, and deaths.
