Biographical / Historical

John Snyder (1842-1914) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Meadville Theological School in 1869 and was ordained a Unitarian minister that same year. He served pastorates at the Third Unitarian Church of Hingham, Massachusetts (1869-1873); the Church of the Messiah in St. Louis, Missouri (1873-1899); the First Unitarian Church at Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts (1899-1909); and the Second Congregational Church of Nantucket, Massachusetts (1909-1914). Snyder is also the author of Unitarianism in St. Louis and As Ye Sow.
