Robert Watson Merry (1913-1973) was a professor at Harvard Business School (HBS). He received his BA (1935), MA (1939), and Doctor of Commercial Science (1943) from Harvard University. Merry began his career at HBS as a research assistant in 1939, and was promoted to assistant professor in 1943, associate professor in 1948, and full professor in 1953. In addition to teaching, he served as director and later chairman of the doctoral program from 1962 to 1967, and chairman of the MBA program from 1967-1969. Outside of HBS, Merry served as director of the Institute of College and University Administrators from 1954-1965.
