This collection includes the case files, course material, and correspondence of Henry Wesley Dunn, who was Professor of Finance at Harvard Business School from 1930 to 1944. The case files include correspondence regarding the research and writing of the case, often with representatives from the company the case is about, as well as related research documents. The course materials largely were used in Investment Management and Industry Finance classes taught by Dunn and include lecture notes, exams, research studies and data, and correspondence regarding the course. Correspondence and Subject Files relates to books and cases, investment counseling, potential employers and publishers, among other aspects of Dunn’s professional and academic life.

Biographical / Historical

Henry Wesley Dunn (1877-1958) was Professor of Finance at Harvard Business School from 1930-1944. The school year of 1938-1939 Dunn took a leave of absence to conduct independent studies on investments. Dunn received his law degree from Harvard in 1902. Before joining the HBS faculty, he taught law at Yale University and practiced law in Boston. After retiring as Professor Emeritus in 1944, Dunn continued his research on investments out of Baker Library.

This collection is maintained in original order, consisting of three series: Series I. Individual Cases, Series II. Course Material, Series III. Correspondence and Subject Files. Within each series, files are predominantly in alphabetical order.
