.5 linear feet (1 box)This collection includes research files from Arthur Houghton Tully, Jr.’s time as a Research Fellow (1946-1948) and Assistant Director of Research (1948-1960) at Harvard Business School. Files contain correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes, memoranda, reports and data. Prominent in the collection are files on aviation research, both from the Aviation Research Advisory Committee to Harvard Business School and the Air Coordinating Committee of the Department of Commerce. Also included are files from the School’s Bureau of Business Research, a file on Large Scale Enterprise, and materials from the Committee for Economic Research on Massachusetts.
Biographical / Historical
Arthur Houghton Tully, Jr. was born in Corning, NY in 1903. He attended Harvard University and was a Research Fellow for Harvard Business School’s Division of Research from 1946-1948. Tully became Assistant Director of Research in the fall of 1948, and continued on in that position through the 1950s. He also became the Director of the Associates of Harvard Business School in 1951. Before leaving Harvard Business School in 1960, he also held positions as Assistant and then Associate Director of the Doctoral Program, Associate Director of Overseas Relations, and Lecturer on Business Administration. Tully died in 1963.
