Scope and Contents
Two volumes kept by Theophilus Manning (1777-1868), of Billerica, Massachusetts, recording wages for his labor and payrolls of other workers. The first volume contains records of Manning’s day labor, such as picking cranberries and doing work for his father, dated 1798-1803. The second volume, dated 1800-1804, contains labor rolls of workers on the Middlesex Canal, Manning included.
