Minutes, treasurer's reports, journals, ledgers, and other papers. Includes auditor's reports (1939-1944) and legal papers (1838-1880) of the Locks and Canals Co. Also includes a small collection of 71 photographs.

Biographical / Historical

Cotton manufacturing firm, Lowell, Mass. Established in 1822. First headed by Kirk Boott. One of the biggest manufacturers of corduroys and velveteens in the U.S. Ceased operations in 1958.

During the processing of the collection, several volumes were identified as missing. Missing volumes are Ledger entries, 1937-1943 (31B); Balance Sheet, 1944-1946 (37); Cash Disbursements, 1942-1953 (38A); Salaries, 1947-1952 (51A); Personnel Sheets, 1952-1954 (51B); Payroll Register, 1952-1954 (51C); Report on depreciation in machinery (60B3-9); and Production, 1940-1942 (66A).
