Act of Incorporation of the Windsor Cotton & Woolen Manufacturing Company and unknown druggist recipes

Scope and Contents

The first part of this volume is the handwritten Act of Incorporation for the Windsor Cotton & Woolen Manufacturing Company of Windsor, Vermont, dated October 30, 1828. The Act, organized by sections, outlines the incorporation of the company, including the names of the incorporators, the date of when the first meeting should be held, the election of officers, how stock is to be divided, and the establishment of by-laws. Also included are minutes from two meetings (December 1835 and January 1836) which record the fulfillment of the items outlined in the Acts of Incorporation, including the formulation of the by-laws. The bulk of the volume is an unknown druggist’s recipe record for prescriptions dated from 1864 to 1872. The handwritten entries, organized in columns, records the number and date of the prescription, who the prescription is for, the prescription itself, directions for the prescription, and the price of the prescription. Prescriptions include hair washes, clothes cleaners, cough mixtures, lotions, painkillers, expectorants, horse liniments, and tonics.
