Scope and Contents
Ledger kept by blacksmith Hiram H. Bidwell, 1826-1836. Bidwell worked and lived in the Berkshires, Massachusetts during the early 19th century. The ledger contains entries for shoeing horses, work performed, fixing whippletrees, and recording loans given to people.
Misidentification note: As of March 2023, staff have determined that Hiram H. Bidwell, previously identified as Hiram H. Bedwell, is Hiram H. Bidwell based on evidence from the collection and secondary sources.
