The records of the Boston Sugar Refinery includes a check book, memorandum of cash, an account book and one unbound volume of letters, statements, accounts current, liabilities, shipments and insurance policies relating to the company's business dealings.

The Boston Sugar Refinery was established in East Boston, Massachusetts in 1834. It was the first manufacturing business located in East Boston. The refinery was credited with creating granulated sugar in 1853. In 1887 the refinery was absorbed by the Sugar Trust. Thomas Lamb, Boston based merchant and businessman was the treasurer and agent of the company.
