Jane Wigglesworth Grew, Anna Grew Alvord, and Sarah Page Grew Potts investment account book

Scope and Contents

Account book includes the investment accounts for Jane Wigglesworth Grew, Anna G. Alvord, and Sarah P. Potts. All three were in possession of substantial amounts of money and they derived income from notes, rental property, and stock dividends. They invested in a variety of companies, including R. C. McKay & Co., Howe Pierce & Co., Pacific Mills, Pepperell Mills, and Washington Mills. The back of the volume also lists the yearly expenses for Jane and Henry Grew of Boston, Massachusetts.

Biographical / Historical

Jane Wigglesworth was born around 1806 to Thomas and Jane (Norton) Wigglesworth. She married Henry Grew in Boston, Massachusetts in November 1850. Jane died in 1868 as was remembered as a "lady widely known and much beloved; distinguished for many acts of beneficence, discriminating charities, strong friendships, and devotion to the good and true." Anna Grew Alvord and Sarah Page Grew Potts were Jane's sisters-in-law and sisters to Henry Grew.
