Scope and Contents
Side 1: Presentation of the Army Navy "E" award to the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, CT. Alan Curtis, Director of Employee Relations welcomes guests and opens the ceremony by having everyone join in singing the Scovill chorus in one verse of the "Star Spangled Banner." Mr. Curtis then introduces the Master of Ceremonies, radio news commentator, Lowell Thomas. Side 2: Continuation of speech by Mayor Vincent Scully talking about the Scovill employees who "have proved their merit under war conditions." Lowell Thomas then reads a congratulatory message from Connecticut Governor Robert A. Hurley who could not attend the ceremony. Then introduces Colonel F. H. Payne, assistant district chief of the Springfield Ordinance District of the Army.
