Scope and Contents

Contains correspondence, bills, accounts, and bills of lading of Brown & Thorndike, dated 1792-1793. Several letters refer to a lawsuit related to the grounding of the ship Sally off Cape St. Francis due to leakage. There are also bills of lading for port and Madeira shipped by Brown & Thorndike, as well as invoices and bills for commodities they bought including nails, coffee, molasses, and nutmeg, and work done on ships. Several bills to Thorndike are for day labor at his farm and house. There is additionally a jury summons to merchant and shipmaster Crowell Hatch.
