Scope and Contents

Contains two account books of George Frost, Jr., a daybook kept in Barrington, New Hampshire, and a ledger with entries dated from 1789 to 1792, recording sales of rum, molasses, indigo, tea, and other goods to merchants and residents of New Hampshire towns such as Durham, Barrington, Barnstead, Lee, Portsmouth, and Gilmanton; his charges for freighting cargo; and Frost's payments for labor, services, and commodities. The daybook may correspond to volume 34 in the collection. A number of entries show credits and debits for merchantable boards Frost purchased, and hauling and surveying boards. On page 65 of the daybook, Frost enters "Accounts brought forward," August 2, 1790, or "those of so trifling a nature as not to merit an account Dr. & Cr. In the ledger."
