Scope and Contents
Contains testimony, depositions, and agreements related to the operation of the iron works and legal disputes with John Gifford, dated 1672-1681. Includes depositions about delivering iron to build a ship, and about land obtained from Thomas Savage in his lawsuit against the Undertakers of the Iron Works, and a statement of Gifford claiming debts owed to him by the iron works. There are also articles of agreement between brothers Samuel, Nathaniel, and Thomas Leonard, and Simon Bradstreet (1603-1697), Daniel Denison (1613-1682), and John Putnam, to construct an iron works in Rowley Village (now Boxford), Massachusetts, and produce bar iron. The Leonard family also was involved in building the Lynn iron works.
