Scope and Contents

Accounts current of the iron works, showing operational expenses and payments at Braintree and Lynn, dated 1653. Includes accounts for wages of workers, and medicines for Scottish indentured servants, some of which were purchased from Goody Burt, who was later accused of witchcraft in 1669. There are also farm accounts, lists of debts, and accounts of bar iron sold. Blacksmith Samuel Harte was paid for use of his tools, over a year of work, and for teaching his trade to John Clarke, a Scottish indentured worker. Goody Smith and Goody Turner were paid for making shirts for the Scottish workers.
