Scope and Contents
Copy of correspondence to John Gifford, dated 1652, from Nicholas Bond, John Becx, and other investors in the iron works, with instructions for operating the factory. The letter references allowances of food and clothing, and debt of indentured workers, procurement of coal, and accounting for production and sales of iron. They also write about Gifford's absenteeism, during which time a fire broke out at the factory, and the appointment of commissioners -- Robert Bridges, Joshua Foote, William Tyng, and Henry Webb -- to review financial records kept by Gifford.
