Series VIII. Peter Faneuil papers, 1716- 1739, 1796
Scope and Contents
This series contains business papers of the Boston merchant Peter Faneuil (1700-1743), including a letter book, two daybooks, an invoice book, and a ledger. Records relate to shipping ventures and import and export of assorted commodities including fabrics, gunpowder, sugar, iron, rum, molasses, flour, wheat, peas, and beeswax. Faneuil was also a slave trader, and one volume includes a reference to sale of 11 boys by an associate, and another contains his own request for a ship master to purchase a young male slave.
