Series I. Douglas Commercial Aircraft, 1938-1969
Scope and Contents
This series contains black and white images of aircraft manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Company for the domestic market. Primary users of Douglas commercial aircraft included Royal Dutch Air Lines (KLM), Philippine Air Lines, Japan Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, United Airlines, and American Airlines. Many of the photographs are of aircraft in flight and on tarmacs. The first Douglas commercial, or "DC" was produced in 1933. Images in this series are of models DC-3, DC-6 and variants, DC-7, DC-8, and unidentified model DC aircrafts. The images date from 1938 to 1969.
