Letter book of Allen Brown during the two years he operated as a commission merchant in Savannah, Georgia. Brown's letters date from November 14, 1809, shortly after his arrival in Savannah, to June 8, 1811. The letters document the difficulties Brown encountered in conducting business. Brown's main products were cotton and cotton textiles, but he also traded a variety of other goods. The letter book also includes loose letters dating from the 1820s concerning Brown's career as a pastor.
