Biography

Laura Tressel Griggs was born in 1883 and died July 23, 1956. She was married to Robert Fiske Griggs, a botanist who led a National Geographic Society expedition in 1915 to observe the aftermath of the Katmai volcanic eruption. Mount Griggs in Alaska is named after them. The Grigg's son, David Tressel Griggs placed a plaque as a grave marker at the summit of the mountain. She lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
