Scope and Contents:
A 1760 order signed by members of the Massachusetts Governor's Council, which included Thomas Hutchinson (1711-1780; Harvard AB 1727), Thomas Hancock (1703-1764), Jacob Wendell (1691-1761), and Thomas Cushing (1725-1788; Harvard AB 1744), granting tax collector Benjamin Hallowell (1724-1799) permission to construct a new house on his land, provided he built with stone or brick and covered the house with tile or slate in accordance with the law.
