Biography

Fletcher, Harrison & Company was the predecessor firm to W. & A. Fletcher Company, a firm that manufactured marine engines, boilers and machinery located in New York Harbor.

The business was started by William Fletcher, Joseph G. Harrison and Andrew Fletcher. Andrew Fletcher was the designer; William Fletcher, manager of works, and Mr. Harrison in charge of the office.

One volume kept by W. & A. Fletcher contains technical description of 103 steamers. The engines and boilers of the steamers were built by Fletcher, Harrison & Company, in 1880 known as W. & A. Fletcher. Entries include the name of the steamer, who the steamer was built for, launch date, trial trip date, description and size of parts, and manufacturer of the engine or boiler.
