Photographs

The Dwight E. Harken papers, 1911-1993 (inclusive), 1940-1975 (bulk), are the product of Harken’s activities as a surgeon, researcher, administrator, lecturer, consultant, and contributing member of national organizations, as conducted throughout his professional appointments, including Clinical Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston.

Correspondence, photographs, writings, etc., of the Hamilton family of Indiana, including physician Alice Hamilton and classicist Edith Hamilton.

The photographs described in this finding aid portray clubs and associations whose members are Harvard Medical School students, alumni, or faculty.

Lloyd E. Hawes (1912-1988), A.B., 1933, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts; M.D., 1937, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, was Professor and Chair of the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Radiology Department (1975-1980) and a developer of the radiology department for the Harvard Medical School-planned Harvard Community Health Plan (now Harvard Pilgrim Health Care). Papers reflect Hawes’s work as a teacher, administrator, and historian of radiology.

The Peter Bent Brigham Hospital records are the product of the hospital’s administrative, fundraising, publication, and public relations activities, as well as construction projects and training programs. The bulk of the records date from 1911 through 1980.

The William A. Haseltine papers (1962-2008) are the product of Haseltine’s activities as a researcher, business executive, educator, lecturer, consultant, and contributing member of national and international organizations. Haseltine's main areas of research include cancer, HIV and AIDS, and genomics.
