The Abraham Myerson papers and family research records, 1908-2013 (inclusive), 1921-1974 (bulk), are primarily the product of Abraham Myerson’s professional, research, and publishing activities over the course of his career as a neurologist, practicing psychiatrist, and author in Boston, Massachusetts. The papers are arranged in two series: I. Abraham Myerson Papers, 1908-2013, undated; and II. Family Research Records, 1925-2013.

Records in this collection were created by Charles Miller Fisher during his practice as a neurologist in Montreal, Canada, and Boston, Massachusetts. The collection includes patient notes and records, research notes, manuscript drafts, X-rays, slides, photographs, and memorabilia. Topics in the collection include dementia, transient ischemic attack, normal pressure hydrocephalus, transient monocular blindness, stroke, hemiplegia, headache, vasospasm, and arterial dissection.

Overview: The papers reflect the professional work of Francine M. Benes, a research neuroscientist who focused her work on the neuropathology of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Benes did the bulk of her work at Harvard-affiliated institutions, primarily McLean Hospital and the Harvard Brain Tissue Research Center. Benes focused on the cellular examination of human brain tissue as a method to explore the course and effects of neurodegenerative disease, primarily schizophrenia and bipolar disorder....

Overview:

The James Bourne Ayer papers, 1788-1960, document the professional and personal life of the James Jackson Putnam Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and Chief of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Also included are diaries, correspondence, financial ledgers and notes of father and grandfather, James Ayer and James Bourne Ayer, both physicians.
