The Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine records, 1966-1997 (inclusive), 1970-1995 (bulk) consist of correspondence, meeting minutes, disciplinary files, annual reports, and subject files related to the development and administration of the Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine. Subjects of the records include the selection of new residents, selection and hiring of faculty, resident training, and facilities available at partner hospitals.

Lloyd E. Hawes (1912-1988), A.B., 1933, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts; M.D., 1937, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, was Professor and Chair of the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Radiology Department (1975-1980) and a developer of the radiology department for the Harvard Medical School-planned Harvard Community Health Plan (now Harvard Pilgrim Health Care). Papers reflect Hawes’s work as a teacher, administrator, and historian of radiology.

Samuel Reid Warren, Jr. (1908-1996), B.S., 1928, M.S., 1929, and Sc.D. 1937, Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, was a professor in the Moore School and in the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His professional career focused on x-ray research and radiologic physics. The papers reflect his work in the Graduate School of Medicine as a teacher and administrator.
