Overview: The Samuel Bancroft Barlow papers, 1798-1876, consist of letters from other Barlows concerning the family's genealogy, research notes and manuscript family histories by Barlow, and printed circulars and certificates from medical institutions and societies and the Massachusetts Militia. There are also letters from colleagues and associates including physicians Eli Ives (1779-1861), Joseph F. Jewett (1788-1859), and Vincent Holcombe, and a small amount of legal documents.

Also included are medical, subject, and lecture notes; writings; a journal; and a biography of Benjamin Waterhouse.
Overview: The William Hamilton Tyler Hamilton papers, 1799-1927, consist of a handwritten copy of his memoirs, a student notebook from his medical courses at Columbia College, volumes of notes on medicine, botany, surveying, and copied verses, and certificates related to Tyler's study and practice of medicine. Also included are letters from the Tuttle Company to the Boston Medical Library about purchasing the collection.
