This collection consists of the correspondence and materials re: Elizabeth Reynard's career in the WAVES, of which she was assistant director during World War II; and her writings, especially her books The Narrow Land; Folk Chronicles of Old Cape Cod (1934) and Ports of Youth: Fragments of an Autobiography (1962). There is also a small amount of material re: the women reserve groups in the Canadian and British armed forces during World War II.

BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth Reynard (1898-1962) was Assistant director of the WAVES during World War II and was also an author.

The papers of Elizabeth Reynard were given to the Schlesinger Library by Virginia C. Gildersleeve and Elizabeth Markle between 1962 and 1965.
