The collection consists of one diary from the year 1894 by an anonymous woman living in the West Newbury area of Vermont. The diary contains short daily entries that record the weather and her daily activities as well as those of her family. She describes maple sugaring, churning butter, gardening, and making mincemeat and sausage, as well as household repairs and visits from friends and neighbors. She mentions Robbie chopping wood and haying, and going with her mother "to meeting," possibly town meeting. In addition, she mentions the death and funeral of her father. The name "Peggy Palimeno" is written inside the front cover in different handwriting; this name is most likely not the name of the diary's author.

BIOGRAPHY

The anonymous writer of this diary lived on a farm in the West Newbury area of Vermont. She lived with a man, "Robbie," who was most likely her husband.
