Series Note
This file relates to the Interim Mixed Parole and Clemency Board for German War Criminals in the U.S. Zone of Germany. The collection covers the period of October 1953 through Nov. 2, 1954; Henry L. Shattuck was Chairman of the Board during this time. These papers deal with the day-to-day business of the Board, its hearings and recommendations, and they contain some background material on the establishment of the Board and the crimes and original trials of the prisoners. The abbreviation HICOG stands for U.S. High Commissioner for Germany. The papers include correspondence, memoranda, reports, charts, news clippings, and five items of printed pamphlet material. The order which H. L. Shattuck had imposed on these files was preserved, including folder headings.
