James F. Hensel collection of slides of Harvard student life

Collection contains 247 color Kodak 35 mm slides of images taken by James F. Hensel while an undergraduate student at Harvard between 1976 and 1979, as well as the small Olympus camera used to take the images. The collection also includes digital scans of selected slides created by Hensel circa 2001, 2004-2005.

Collection contains 247 color Kodak 35 mm slides of images taken by James F. Hensel while an undergraduate student at Harvard between 1976 and 1979, as well as the small Olympus camera used to take the images. The slides include images of undergraduate students at Harvard during the late 1970s. Hensel documented student parties, including house parties, basement parties, keg parties, and costume parties; student sports games, including Harvard-Yale football games; concerts; spring break trips to the beach and Disney World; camping and skiing trips; and other University events, as well as the interior of dorm rooms. Hensel primarily documents his close male friends, many of whom appear to have been part of the sports and party culture at Harvard. The collection also includes 132 digital scans of selected slides created by Hensel circa 2004.

Biographical note on James F. Hensel

James F. Hensel, medical device engineer, was born on October 2, 1957 in Waterville, Washington. He attended Harvard University from 1976 to 1980, and received a law degree from Willamette University College of Law in 1985. Hensel has worked as an executive at multiple start-ups.
