Scope and Contents

Volume of sermons preached and writings by Thaddeus Mason Harris and others, as well as printed religious material and handwritten verses, dated 1790-1810. Contains loose fragments and papers and smaller bound notebooks, including one titled “Curious American Epitaphs” compiled by Harris, dated March 1790 in Cambridge, and a handwritten copy of John Marriott’s “Ode to the Genius of Britain written on the Battle of St. Amand,” dated 1793.

Volume of extracts of writing from assorted books and journals, copied by Thaddeus Mason Harris in 1792. Topics include science, religion, philosophy, population studies, Christmas, and Chinese culture, as well as a memorandum of classics omitted from a work by Dr. Harwood. There are a number of loose papers and newspaper clippings laid in to the back of the volume, dated through 1802.
